Kelly Construction & Design completed a 23,254-square-foot renovation for Stella & Chewy’s, transforming a former warehouse environment into a modern, fully functional corporate office tailored to the company’s collaborative and pet-friendly culture.
Working alongside Vavra Design, KCD executed a comprehensive interior buildout that redefined the space from industrial warehouse to professional office environment. A significant component of the project involved extensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler (MEPS) upgrades to support occupancy, comfort, and code compliance. The existing infrastructure required substantial modification, including new HVAC distribution for proper climate control, upgraded electrical systems to support workstations and conference technology, enhanced lighting design, plumbing expansions for restrooms and specialty areas, and life-safety system improvements. Careful coordination between trades ensured these systems were seamlessly integrated within the new office layout while maintaining efficiency and long-term performance.
The renovated layout includes a mix of private offices, open cubicle workstations, conference rooms of varying sizes, breakout spaces, and dedicated private phone rooms — providing employees with flexible environments for focused work and collaboration. A large kitchen and breakroom area was constructed as a central gathering hub, reinforcing company culture and team connectivity.
A distinctive feature of the space is its intentional accommodation of Stella & Chewy’s dog-friendly workplace philosophy. Each cubicle includes a built-in gate, allowing employees to safely keep their “canine co-workers” at their desks. Durable, pet-friendly materials were selected to withstand daily use while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
In addition, KCD constructed on-site dog wash and grooming stations, requiring specialized plumbing, drainage, and moisture-resistant finishes. These elements were carefully integrated into the overall building systems to ensure both functionality and durability within an office setting.
Through disciplined scheduling, detailed MEPS coordination, and close collaboration with ownership and the design team, Kelly Construction & Design successfully converted an industrial warehouse shell into a high-performing, brand-aligned office environment — blending workplace functionality with thoughtful, pet-forward design.
