Kelly Construction & Design partnered with Dan Beyer Architects to deliver the new construction of Todd, an 891-square-foot walk-up, to-go style restaurant located in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood. Built as a companion concept behind Room Service, Todd was designed to provide a fast, efficient guest experience while still offering the quality, durability, and design-forward feel expected in a modern hospitality space.
Although smaller in footprint, the project required detailed coordination and intentional construction planning to support a high-performing food service operation. KCD managed the complete new build scope, including structural framing, exterior envelope work, interior buildout, and the installation of all supporting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems necessary for daily restaurant use.
The building’s compact layout was carefully constructed to maximize operational efficiency, with a primary focus on quick service functionality and a streamlined customer flow. KCD worked closely with the design team to ensure the space supported the demands of a high-volume to-go environment while maintaining a clean, welcoming presentation at the point of service. The project included construction of the walk-up ordering and pickup area, allowing customers to move through the space quickly and comfortably.
A major feature of Todd is its large outdoor patio, which extends the guest experience beyond the interior footprint and enhances the overall site. Constructing the patio required careful grading, durable surface installation, and attention to drainage and exterior conditions to ensure long-term performance. The outdoor space was built to handle heavy traffic while providing a comfortable setting that complements the surrounding neighborhood and nearby restaurant development.
Because Todd was constructed in close proximity to Room Service, project execution required thoughtful site logistics and coordination. KCD worked through sequencing challenges and maintained efficient scheduling to ensure smooth progress and quality control throughout the build. From material deliveries to site access and staging, every phase of construction required planning to maintain a safe and productive jobsite.
The result is a clean, modern new-build restaurant that blends efficiency with strong architectural presence. Todd offers the convenience of walk-up dining while still delivering a thoughtfully built space that reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail that defines KCD’s hospitality work.
